Connect with the land and the nearby sea of the NSW south coast during a luxury farm stay.

Sydneysiders seeking a short break with loved ones may wish to visit Greyleigh, a beautiful former homestead overlooking the Pacific near the small coastal town of Kiama, two hours south of the harbour city.

Set on 200 acres of farmland, among manicured gardens, apple orchards, and citrus trees, the property was established as a working dairy farm in the 1800s. Transformed into a luxury farm stay, it accommodates up to 18 guests in two houses—the Homestead and the Guest House.

The Homestead sleeps 12 in four bedrooms with three bathrooms, while the Guest House sleeps six with three bathrooms. Living spaces are ideal for entertaining, with wood-fired pizza ovens and barbeques, and indoor/outdoor dining areas scattered around the property.

Authentic experiences

Greyleigh Gems is a curation of experiences designed to help guests to connect with their environment and unwind in a serene setting.

In the spa, rejuvenating treatments include stone massages, calming facials, and body scrubs, while yoga and pilates classes are held overlooking the surrounding hinterland.

Guests are invited to walk around the property and greet Greyleigh’s farm animals, including Ted, the Shetland pony, Dorper sheep, chickens and alpacas.

Private cooking classes, guided art classes and whisky and cigar masterclasses are available for those seeking a creative outlet or to learn a new skill; or guests can explore the great outdoors with beaches, coastal walks, wineries and hiking trails all just a short drive away.

For an entirely different perspective, private helicopter tours can be arranged, taking in the coastline and landscapes dotted with waterfalls and native bushland.

Design notes

Design duo Dominique Brammah and Shannon Shlom were enlisted to transform the homestead into a refined farm stay, with modern amenities and spaces that enable a deep connection to nature.

Vintage and custom-made furnishings and fixtures have been used throughout, with a rustic farmhouse feel that complements the heritage of the property. Light fittings from France and Germany, Italian marble, and antique bronze showerheads are just some of the careful design touches that lend to an authentic countryside aesthetic.

Sustainability

An emphasis on local products is evident in the Australian bed linen and organic Australian bath products in guestrooms, and guests are encouraged to pick fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs from the orchards and gardens, and gather eggs left by the resident chickens.
